Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Digital Health focuses on supporting clinical and business systems as the foundation for leveraging electronic data in the delivery of health-care services.

We have an application support technician (AST) position available. AST positions may be assigned across Digital Health. However, we are currently seeking applicants in Clinical Digital Solutions which supports the introduction, use, optimization, integration and sustainment of effective clinical informatics and digital health processes, systems, services, and technologies. Reporting to a supervisor, the AST will:

  • Maintain secure access to assigned applications
  • Provide second level (Tier 2) application support for assigned technologies
  • Maintain procedure guides and forms
Experience
  • 2 years of experience working in an office environment providing customer service support in-person and by telephone with advanced use of office productivity tools (such as the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro) including maintenance of spreadsheet and database content to respond to changing priorities, meet tight deadlines and high customer expectations
  • Experience providing support for clinical application(s), providing application accounts, using SQL commands and formal call tracking/work order management software (such as Remedy), testing, training, and maintaining documentation for software applications, and working in health informatics are assets
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Post-secondary diploma in a computer science, information technology or health informatics related program from an accredited postsecondary educational institution
  • Successful completion of a recognized customer service course is an asset
  • Working knowledge of and practical experience applying Manitoba\'s Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) is preferred
An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated staff level leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg
  • Interruptions to respond to questions are common dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled
  • Occasional travel throughout the province requiring a valid Manitoba driver\'s license and use of a personal motor vehicle
