The Technology Service Branch requires a self-motivated individual to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and administration of the Edmonton Police Service's physical and virtual infrastructure. Roles and responsibilities include:
Administration and troubleshooting of Azure Active Directory (EntraID), Microsoft 365, and Azure services.
Administer and support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems.
Administer and configure SolarWinds and Splunk for infrastructure monitoring and log analysis.
Perform daily maintenance and administration of Azure AD, on-premises Active Directory, vSphere 8.x, Storage Area Networks (SANs), and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter, including provisioning physical and virtual servers and system imaging.
Manage and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 systems.
Advanced-level expertise in patch management lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and troubleshooting of Windows Server updates across enterprise environments.
Receive, prioritize, document, and resolve complex infrastructure support requests using diagnostic tools and ticketing systems; provide hands-on desktop support as required.
Monitor system logs and network traffic for anomalous activity; respond to and resolve security incidents.
Manage antivirus, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and enforce IT security policies.
Advanced experience onboarding and managing Microsoft Defender for Servers to enhance overall security posture.
Hands-on experience with building and configuring current versions of Windows Server operating system.
Advanced experience implementing and configuring enterprise-grade password management solutions.
Performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications
:Degree in a related discipline and one (1) year of relevant experience OR Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and two (2) years relevant experience OR one (1) year related certificate and four (4) years relevant experience.
Experience with supported Windows server operating systems, Active Directory, EntraID, IAM, Microsoft 365, S3 and Object storage, VMware ESXi 8.x, HPE storage area networks, and HPE server hardware.
Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell
Experience with MFA, SSO and identity management standards like SAML and OAuth
Able to rapidly acquire in-depth knowledge of unfamiliar systems through research and self-learning.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, customer service, teamwork, problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Highly self-motivated with the proven ability to work independently to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a mission critical high-pressure environment.
Able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 35 kilograms.
Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License. Must complete a City Driver's License application. Must also have access to own vehicle and provide written proof of current public liability and property damage insurance to a minimum of $1,000,000. EPS will reimburse for mileage for any private vehicle usage during assigned duties. Client transportation is not required.
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, 0800 - 1600 hours Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program. Incumbents must be available for call-out outside of these hours on a rotational basis.
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
