Are you an expert in core IT infrastructure systems, with a strong focus on Directory Services and its integrations? Join us as an Application & Infrastructure Analyst! You'll apply your in-depth knowledge of technologies such as Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Arc, Microsoft Entra ID, Multifactor Authentication, Hardware Security Modules, Certificate Management, and Privileged Access Management to tackle the City of Edmonton's most challenging problems.This role requires significant experience in designated technologies, including deep knowledge of critical IT systems and an understanding of integrations with adjoining technologies or applications. These adjoining technologies include virtualized environments using VMware products, Network Services, Domain Name Service (DNS), Database Servers, and all other Windows Servers. Leveraging your expertise across the entire technology stack, you will contribute to system and infrastructure designs, helping to ensure a secure environment for the City's business
What will you do?
Drive the design, delivery, and maintenance of large-scale IT systems and complex enhancements
Act as a subject matter expert in multiple areas, with a strong focus on Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Arc, Microsoft Entra ID, Privileged Access Management, and Enterprise Access Management. You'll provide definitive advice, consolidate expertise from various sources, and troubleshoot the most complex, escalated issues
You'll oversee the full lifecycle of key systems, including PKI and SSL/TLS Certificate Management, Secure FTP, Group Policy Objects, and Domain Controllers
Maintain infrastructure and access support processes, investigate issues using management tools, and contribute to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work
Design, develop, and monitor automated processes
Provide guidance on methods, tools, and standards. Review and improve their usage
Track logs and correct configuration information. Verify changes and perform audits to ensure accuracy. Practice proper Change Management process
Respond quickly to outages and routinely test disaster recovery procedures
Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
:Degree in Computer Science and 4 years relevant experience
OR Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and 5 years relevant experience
OR 1 year related certificate and 7 years relevant experience
Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or GED is a requirement
Technical experience in a computing environment similar to the City of Edmonton's which is complex with highly diverse data, application and technology environments
Asset:
Cybersecurity professional designation is an asset; such as CCSP, CISSP, CISA, CompTIA Security+
Windows Active Directory Users and Computers certification is an asset
ITIL Foundations certification is an asset
Other technology-specific certifications and diplomas related to the work are considered an asset
Skills required for success:
Experience in managing all aspects of Microsoft Active Directory as well as directory services management tools
Experience managing Microsoft Domain Controllers including troubleshooting and patching, managing Group Policy Objects, Server Hardening, and Security Protocol Management
Experience managing Microsoft Azure Arc and Entra ID, as well as directory services deployment and maintenance into GCP, AWS, and other Cloud environments
Experience managing PKI and SSL/TLS Public Certificate Management and Hardware Security Modules
Experience using solutions such as Multi Factor Authentication, Enterprise Identity Access Manager, and Privileged Access Management
Experience managing Secure FTP servers
Experience using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc to automate tasks and to retrieve and analyze data
Knowledge of performance monitoring, automated testing, and secure-by-design methodologies
Stays current with emerging technologies and industry standards
Demonstrates leadership by mentoring colleagues and guiding less experienced staff
Facilitates collaboration among diverse partners and builds strong working relationships
Applies creativity, judgment, and analytical skills to analyze requirements and propose solutions
Possesses excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
Proactively addresses security issues and contributes to the organization's security culture
Capable of working both independently and effectively within a team environment
Ability to participate in a 7/24 on-call support system that may require onsite presence
Work Environment:
Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
