As an Application Engineer you are a valuable member of the Marketing and Engineering Team and you will interact and support our Direct Sales team and our customers, to ensure the best possible match between the company\xe2\x80\x99s products and the customer\xe2\x80\x99s application.

This role requires providing consistent, reliable, and accurate, technical support in a fast-paced workplace environment. Effective time management skills, professional quoting and estimating abilities, and proficiency with forging strong interdepartmental relationships are key attributes for this position.

  • Work closely with the Marketing and Engineering Manager and the rest of the team to review RFQ\xe2\x80\x99s, technical specifications, bid contracts, and special customer requirements.
  • Provide technical, marketing, and commercial sales support to members of the Direct Sales organization within agreed-upon time frame.
  • Prepare quotations for equipment, installations, and engineered packages, including technical data and drawings, and all associated bid documents for the Direct Sales organization.
  • Provide accurate and consistent, high quality, sales and technical support via phone, email and direct customer interaction.
  • Coordinate activities with internal departments, outside contractors, and various other vendors and approval agencies.
  • Provide application engineering expertise in special applications including conceptual design, evaluation of existing designs, basic modification of existing designs, etc.
  • Provide internal support with all commercial and technical negotiations.
  • Handle all details of assigned projects from inception to completion within mutually agreed-upon time frames.
  • Answer or find answers to marketing, technical, systems, applications questions when requested by peers and/or internal external customers.
  • Price and cost equipment on projects consistent with Wiseworth\'s established policies.
  • Assist with developing bid strategies and optimizing the product bill of material.
  • Understand competitor products and strategies and effectively communicate this information to the Direct Sales organization, internal departments, and other functional areas.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of promotional and technical materials.
  • Participate in sales meetings and present information to sales team on products and services.
  • Participate in training on how to sell technical equipment and the sales process.
  • Participate in creative thinking, team decision-making and problem solving with people from all parts of the organization.
  • Support and optimize product selection procedures and communicate procedures to the Direct Sales organization.
  • Assist the Project Manager as required with significant projects, projects requiring special handling and documentation, or projects requiring special testing and inspections.
  • Participate in regular opportunities for self-learning and continuing education including Ingersoll Rand product training, training webinars, internal cross training, seminars, and/or related college or university courses.
  • Hands on learning in shop to learn our in house capabilities.
  • Work with sales team to support energy audits.
  • Periodic site visits with account managers and field service technicians to support projects when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude are key qualifications for this position.
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, P. Eng designation, EIT Certification, or associated technical major. Degree may be substituted with 2+ years of related experience. We will consider entry level candidates for this position.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain high quality, long term and professional business relationships with clients, customers, suppliers and other employees/team members. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Assertive, results-driven, self-starter with the ability to manage time and priorities in order to meet specific goals and objectives.
  • Highly developed and demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience preparing technical sales quotations/proposals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and assess customer needs, analyze and interpret technical information, perform basic equipment performance calculations, and recommend technical solutions.
  • Tech savvy. Working proficiently with PC\xe2\x80\x99s, laptops or tablet style computers.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software, AutoCAD, Solidworks and/or associated programs.
  • Must have excellent prioritization and time management skills.
  • Able to work effectively both within a team environment and independently.
  • Tactful and assertive when dealing with customers, sales personnel, supervisors, engineers, and other internal staff.
  • Able to provide consistent, high quality work, under pressure situations and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • This position is based out of our Airdrie, Alberta office.
  • Employee will work in an office workplace environment that requires sitting at a desk for extended periods, and frequently working with computers and phones.
  • Employee may regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs., and rarely lift and or move more than 50 lbs.
  • Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License with no major traffic violations, suspensions, or DUI\xe2\x80\x99s in past five years. Driver\'s abstract may be required.
  • Valid Canadian passport with the ability to travel across Canada and the United States.
