The Faculty\'s Divisional IT team, Information and Instructional Technology (IIT) is a crucial source of support for teaching, research, and administrative operations. Core functions include Infrastructure-Server/Networking & Data Centre, Client Services Teaching Technology and End User Support, Product & Delivery Services and Applications & Development. We are a high volume, service focused team, supporting the day-to-day IT needs and operations for numerous Faculty units and work collaboratively with local, departmental IT teams as well as institutional IT partners to deliver technology initiatives which have included Office 365 services, SharePoint, Multi Factor Authentication, Learning Management Engine and VoIP.

Your opportunity:

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Applications and Development, the incumbent designs, builds and configures complex applications, including forms and workflows applications that use low code/no code solutions. The incumbent analyzes, designs, builds, tests, and maintains applications, data models, security models, and interfaces via APIs. The incumbent is also responsible for documenting code and for preparing project documentation that can be used for training purposes and for making future enhancements. The incumbent acts as a resource on application development issues to the Application & Development team and other IT staff as well as clients, stakeholders and partners.

This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the .

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, administering, and integrating forms and workflows application via APIs; Configuring out-of-the-box workflows and create/maintain custom workflows
  • Configuring application related fields, forms, views, email notifications, acceptance roles and access controls using no code/low code solution
  • Building Reports, dashboards, and homepages
  • Designing, testing, and modifying forms and workflows application
  • Developing database model to support forms and workflows application
  • Participating in daily scrums and collaborative design/brainstorm sessions
  • Preparing standard project progress/status reports
  • Troubleshooting issues uncovered by testing or user feedback
  • Advising on feasibility and impact of different implementation solutions with forms and workflows application
  • Analyzing and making recommendations for forms and workflows application enhancements
  • Checking that security authentication and authorization meets University guidelines and project requirements
  • Rapidly prototyping new solutions to demonstrate forms and workflows application capabilities for our stakeholders
  • Designing, building, testing, and maintaining cloud applications and services
  • Designing, developing, building, testing, and maintaining all other custom and purchased applications, databases, and services
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent and related experience with application design and building forms and workflows.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent and related experience with PHP development including database design, administration, and support.
  • Experience with analysis/design techniques using database back-end and multiple browser platforms.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Web design and programming, including Web development tools, database construction and code support standards and methodologies.
  • Experience using the Workflow Editor to configure workflows.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of object-oriented development and framework.
  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development, unit testing, and clean code.
  • Knowledge of Git source control or similar.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of high-quality development solutions in various .net technologies such as C#, Rest & Web API\'s, Entity Framework, Typed Datasets.
  • Knowledge of Decisions forms and workflows platform will be an asset.
  • Experience with planning and tracking components of IT projects.
  • Recent and relevant working knowledge of JSON, AJAX, XML, HTML, CSS, Java, Python, PERL, and JavaScript will be a very strong asset.
  • Working knowledge of relational database systems (e.g., MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and application-to-database connection tools and methods.
  • Working knowledge of Apple OS/X, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
  • Familiarity with large objects in the context of storing and retrieving voice, image, text, and other multimedia objects to and from databases.
  • Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, and detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated good judgment, creativity, tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
