Proper enforcement of laws (related bylaws and related Provincial Acts)
Pickup and handling of stray and injured animals
Euthanize sick or injured animals
Court appearances
Answering of phones
Must be able to serve customer/clients in a professional manner with excellent ability to handle stressful situations and people. Candidates must possess strong problem solving/critical thinking and de-escalation talents
Selling of (dog and cat licence) tags
Issuing of fines
Other duties assigned by management
Clean driving record (must show proof)
Animal (care and handling) background
Has never been investigated for cruelty to animals
Police clearance certificate
Good people skills
Ability to take and obey orders and policies
Able to report for work on short notice
Ability to work alone or as a team player is a must
Physically capable of lifting animals of various sizes
Good oral and written communication skills
Computer knowledge is an asset
Ability to work days, nights (on-call), weekends, holidays
Reside within reasonable distance from the shelter due to on-calls
Fire arms acquisition certificate is an asset and is preferable
Must have own transportation
