We are currently looking for a dedicated, dynamic, outgoing individual with excellent customer service skills to fill the position of part-time Animal Control Officer. The Lincoln County Humane Society is located in picturesque St. Catharines, in the Niagara Region. We are looking for someone who is organized, efficient, can work in a high-paced environment, and is detail-oriented, reliable, is a good problem solver with excellent analytical skills, and is an engaging individual. Qualifications, Experience, and Personal Attributes \xc2\xb7 Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Law Enforcement and/or Security (Required); \xc2\xb7 Previous experience in a similar position would be considered an asset; \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of animal care, animal husbandry and handling; \xc2\xb7 Good command of the English language \xe2\x80\x93 verbal and written ; \xc2\xb7 Ability to remain calm in situations of an emotional nature; \xc2\xb7 Ability to provide and maintain a clean MVA Drivers Abstract; \xc2\xb7 Ability to provide and maintain a clean Police Clearance Certificate; \xc2\xb7 Valid Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d driver\xe2\x80\x99s license; \xc2\xb7 Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and cover after-hours emergency calls. Responsibilities/Duties \xc2\xb7 Responds to at large domestic animals and wildlife calls; \xc2\xb7 Rescues animals in situations other than investigations; \xc2\xb7 Enforces municipal by-laws, issues offense notices, laying provincial offense information; \xc2\xb7 Keeps an accurate notebook with details of all calls made; \xc2\xb7 May testify in court or at hearings when required; \xc2\xb7 Seizes and impounds animals found running at large; \xc2\xb7 Serves municipal orders, notices, and warnings; \xc2\xb7 Deals with the public in a tactful and courteous manner; \xc2\xb7 Educates the public regarding responsible pet ownership; \xc2\xb7 May be required to euthanize animals; \xc2\xb7 Transports animals to veterinary hospitals, shelters, and wildlife facilities; \xc2\xb7 Communicates through a radio dispatch system; \xc2\xb7 Works with other agencies (police, fire, municipal enforcement officers) in a cooperative manner; \xc2\xb7 Operates and maintains a Society vehicle in a safe and professional manner, reporting any damage or mechanical problems immediately; \xc2\xb7 Follows policies and procedures set out by the Society and reports all hazardous situations and incidents to his/her immediate supervisor immediately; \xc2\xb7 Works in a safe manner and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations. \xc2\xb7 May perform Animal Care duties as required including cleaning kennels, adoption of animals, answering phone calls, etc. \xc2\xb7 Other duties as required Working Conditions \xc2\xb7 Requires the ability to pick up and remove all sizes and types of animals \xc2\xb7 Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions \xc2\xb7 Exposure to distressed and/or aggressive domestic and wild animals \xc2\xb7 Dealing with the public under a variety of circumstances \xc2\xb7 Fast-paced environment Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24-32 per week Salary: From $18.90 per hour Schedule:
