This position is open to Nunavut Inuit Only Reporting to the Chief Enforcement Officer, you will provide effective Animal Control Services and duties while representing the City of Iqaluit if a fair, professional and unbiased manner. As the Animal Control Officer, you will assist in providing input and conducting research pertaining to relative legislation whether on a Municipal or Territorial Level. The Animal Control Officer will write reports and provide oversight and advice in municipal law enforcement and licensing pertaining to Animals. This position shall also enforce any other Municipal Bylaws or Territorial Act and Legislation deemed and by direction of the Chief Municipal Enforcement Officer. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum two years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of related professional experience (e.g. Municipal Enforcement Officer, Animal Control Officer, or professions directly related to the care and control of animals)b
A strong working knowledge of animals, and animal behavior
Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong computer skills
Effective communication skills both orally and in writing
Equivalencies that include a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education may be considered. Due to the nature of this position, a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check are required of this position, as well as a TB test.
