Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and flexible Animal Care Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and the ability to provide high-quality care to various species in an after hours, emergency setting. This role requires attention to detail, strong observational skills, a commitment to maintaining the health and well-being of the animals in our care and kindness towards your fellow staff.

Responsibilities

Provide daily and overnight care for patients (dogs and cats). Including feeding, cleaning, restraining and monitoring their health and behavior. Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, health observations, and any treatments administered. Assist with the preparation and administration of medications as directed by veterinary staff. Assist with radiographs, setting up the surgery theatre Cleaning the clinic Reception duties: answering phones, creating appointments, telephone triaging, greeting patients and checking them in and out, finalizing their bill Reviewing euthanasia requests and finances with clients Ensure that all animal housing areas are clean, safe, and comfortable. Running laboratory sample including blood and urine profiles Follow all safety protocols and guidelines related to animal handling and laboratory procedures. Collaborate with team members to ensure the highest standards of animal care are met. Hours include evenings, full overnights, weekends/holidays 24/7

Experience

Previous experience in an animal care role is preferred Desire for an active job Strong understanding of animal behavior and needs. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills for interacting with colleagues and reporting observations accurately. Willingness to learn new techniques related to animal care and laboratory practices.
