The Role



Double Star Drilling has an immediate opening for an

Anchor/ Micropile Foreman

Previous field experience in drilling is critical to this role. The Anchor/Micropile Foreman is responsible for assisting with all field operations and general site supervision of workers, operators and crew with equipment to drive various types of steel pilings into the ground for use as foundation support for buildings and other structures. The Foreman will review construction projects, evaluate site conditions, anticipates and solves potential site issues and assures standards of safety and quality are consistently met or exceeded while maintaining the timeline of the project schedule. The Anchor/Micropile Foreman is responsible for ensuring safety of themselves and other workers around them.

Location/Job Details



Fly in fly out camp work from anywhere in Canada to Fort McMurray 2 weeks on, one week off, 12 hours per day. Suncor Base Plant to start until November - various training and orientations needed prior to being able to start on site. Company will provide paid training. After Suncor project, applicants that are successful in the role will be considered to transfer for roles in and around Edmonton (travel out of town required up to 40% of the time)

Compensation & Benefits



$40 to $50 per hour with OT at 1.5 x the regular rate (bi-weekly pay). OT after 8 hours per day. 10% Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay on all regular hours paid out bi-weekly. Receive an additional $2.00 per hour after 30 days if you sign up for our Drug & Alcohol-free program (agree to random D & A testing). Extended health, dental, vision, travel and paramedical coverage after 90 days. AD&D, life insurance and dependent life insurance after 90 days. $300/year health care spending account. RRSP and/or TFSA matching after 90 days. Employee Assistance and virtual health programs. Company truck or mileage reimbursement. Company provided lap top and cell phone.

Key Duties



Encourage appropriate positive attitudes towards OHS and Alberta Legislation Ensure that workers use the required protective equipment devices Advise workers of potential and actual hazards, and take every reasonable precaution in the circumstances for the protection of the workers Actively participate in Inspections and Audits Perform employee competency reviews as required by Double Star and the Client Ensure that all hazards and incidents are reported, investigated, and that suitable controls are implemented Must participate in Toolbox Meetings and actively engage with workers Must ensure that all paperwork (FLHA's, Equipment Inspections etc.) are completed, reviewed, and deficiencies are reported immediately Keep a daily journal of all activities and conversations between workers and management Ensure that the workers engaged in the work of that of the employer are aware of their duties and responsibilities under OHS Legislation Ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly paperwork is completed and handed in for review Perform pre-operational inspections, safety checks, load chart calculations, and daily logs Communicate with assigned crews. Ability to travel to work sites Must be comfortable with laser levels and layout May perform other related duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualifications



Minimum 2-3 years of drilling experience as a Foreman Piling experience is beneficial Be able to read blueprints Mechanically inclined Able to perform physically demanding tasks outside in all types of weather and terrain Able to work with minimal supervision Must have excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills Valid CSTS 2020 Fundamentals from ACSA Valid Ground Disturbance Level 2 Certification Valid Class 5 license with clean driver abstract Will be required to perform a drug and alcohol test for pre project access
