Reporting to a senior member of the Strategic Credit team, you will play a key role in making and managing primarily life sciences credit and intellectual property investments globally and also be involved in structured credit transactions. You will assist the team in evaluating investment opportunities, conducting in-depth due diligence, analyzing asset portfolios, developing sophisticated pricing and valuation models, conducting statistical research, developing investment recommendations, participating in the execution, monitoring, and management of investments. The team has an affable and supportive culture and is looking for someone who will grow with the group over time.Credit Investments currently manages assets in excess of $50 billion; investment deal sizes range from $50M to over $1B. The Credit Investments team has over 120 investment professionals across North America, Europe and Asia. The Strategic Credit group invests in pools of loans, royalties backed by intellectual property and other credit-like or idiosyncratic assets and provides capital solutions to financial companies. Typical investments in the Life Sciences/IP strategy include pharmaceutical royalty acquisitions and life sciences credit investments.Role-Specific Accountabilities:
  • Conducting financial analysis and scientific due diligence on potential investment opportunities
  • Build complex dynamic financial models to analyze expected returns of investment opportunities and perform scenario and sensitivity analyses
  • Assist in the due diligence on opportunities including commercial, medical, scientific, regulatory and IP analyses
  • Perform valuation analysis of companies and debt instruments, including DCF, precedent transactions and relative value analysis
  • Assist in deal execution and management of existing investments across the Life Sciences/IP portfolio
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials and presenting investment recommendations to Investment Committees
  • Interact with external parties that are key to the investment process, including management teams, loan sellers, legal counsel, auditors, banks and leverage providers, among others
  • Execute investment opportunities, including working with internal operations and developing transaction structures
QualificationsIdeal candidates for this role have qualifications including the below elements:
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in life sciences or bioengineering (strongly preferred)
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical royalty investing, healthcare/life sciences credit investing, healthcare investment banking, equity research, pharmaceutical consulting, or other relevant areas
  • Passion for investing in healthcare/life sciences and is open to working on other strategies within Strategic Credit
  • Strong research, financial modelling and valuation skills
  • Experience in conducting due diligence on pharmaceutical investment opportunities including physician interviews, surveys and coverage of medical conferences
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
