Location:
Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
This role can be performed from EDC's headquarters in Ottawa.

Team Overview:
EDC Investments is an evergreen investment group with over $4 billion in committed and invested capital in private equity, venture capital and fund investments. EDC Investments is seeking a recent undergraduate (less than 18 months since graduation) with a financial background and a demonstrated interest in private equity investments. The successful candidate will be an important contributor and have the opportunity to work on direct venture capital and private equity deals, as well as fund investments. The role will involve: conducting research and assisting with transaction due diligence, building financial models, assisting with fair market valuation and utilizing EDC's software tools for transaction and relationship management.
Discipline Summary
Assists Investment Managers with evaluating and monitoring opportunities for private equity investments through direct lead investing, co-investing, fund investing or investing across a combination of investment/asset class specializations.
Supports the team with portfolio monitoring, management and fair market valuation assessments.
Develops and maintains detailed financial models for direct investments.
Ensures discipline around data integrity.
What you will be doing:
Due diligence - Assist Associates and Senior Associates with specific elements of diligence and investment proposals by conducting research and analysis of highly complex and/or high-risk transactions.
Financial Models - Utilize customized excel financial models for valuation, risk assessment and cash flow profiling purposes.
Transaction Teamwork - Work collaboratively within a team of private equity specialists and EDC internal teams, including business development, technical advisory services, legal services, treasury and accounting, and risk management.
Legal Documentation - Develop familiarity with term sheet provisions and investment legal documentation.
Portfolio Monitoring - Assists the team with monitoring the performance a portfolio of investments and prepares fair market valuation assessments.
Contributes to various reporting requirements for the Investments Program.
What we are looking for:
Recently completed an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance or Accounting
Co-op work experience in a private equity, investment banking, corporate development, consulting, or transaction services setting.
Demonstrated outstanding financial modeling skills
What will make you stand out:
0-2 years of relevant work experience in private equity, venture capital or related fields, such as investment banking or corporate development
Bilingualism in both official languages (English and French) would be considered an asset
