Job Description


We are looking for an Analyst to join our Investment Finance G&A team!

The Analyst will report directly to the Senior Manager, Investment Finance and will be a vital resource driving the daily and month-end accounting cycles/processes for numerous management entities, which support OMERS Private Equity/Infrastructure investment groups. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to learn new tools and processes, as well as handle multiple tasks, often working within tight deadlines. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance vital financial reporting skills, strengthen business acumen, develop an understanding of full cycle accounting processes, along with driving monthly result preparation across numerous domestic and international management entities.

As a member of this team, the Analyst will be responsible for:

Prepare journal entries impacting various accounting cycles (e.g. sales/AR, expense/AP/accruals, intercompany management fees and chargebacks, prepaids, capital assets, payroll, other)

Prepare bank account reconciliations as part of the financial reporting process with appropriate analysis and supporting documentation;

Prepares monthly and year-end working papers with appropriate analysis and supporting documentation for annual financial reporting and audit purposes;

Assists with cash forecasting, accounts payable and receivable activities;

Prepares schedules and reports requested by Investment Finance, FP&A, and Corporate Finance;

Prepares variance analysis on financial data;

Prepares regulatory reports including reports to Statistics Canada, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Financial Conduct Authority, Office for National Statistics and CRA;

Assists with the development and implementation of budgets and forecasts;

Assists with the preparation of quarterly/annual financial statements

Assists with tax filings when required; and

Participates in special and ad hoc projects or duties, as required

To succeed in this role, you have:

University degree in Business or related discipline;

Enrolment in Chartered Professional Accountant designation, successful completion is preferred;

Knowledge of IFRS and ASPE is preferred;

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools especially Excel (intermediate to advanced level);

Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills;

Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Self-motivated to learn new concepts and has a strong ability to learn in a short period of time;

A strong team player able to operate in a fast-paced environment with numerous priorities and deadlines with effective organization time management skills;

Oracle experience is preferred.
