Job Title Analyst, Data Insights




































What will you do? Data Quality Monitoring

  • Monitor data quality control exceptions, conduct detailed investigations, including root cause analysis, and identify and document data issues.
  • Collaborate with business process and report owners, and other users of shared data assets to capture systemic and other self-identified data issues and control gaps.
  • Use standardized and ad hoc reporting to communicate data quality results, trends and insights to business partners and management.

Issues Management & Resolution (IMR)
  • Track and manage data quality and control issues from assignment through to resolution by applying best practices and using the Collibra IMR workflow and Jira project management tools.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Data Office, Data Management Offices, IT and other business functions to facilitate data remediation, adjustments and/or system changes to address the root cause of the data issues.
  • Provide monthly summary and detailed reporting on resolved and outstanding issues, finding and recommendations to business partners and key stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement
  • Propose process changes/improvement to address identified gaps or inconsistencies in data, processes and/or controls.
  • Gain and apply an in-depth understanding of data quality controls, data profiling tools and systems to support the definition and implementation of effective controls and reporting.
  • Work with the Chief Data Office and other Data Management Offices to support standards and best practices to improve data quality, participating in initiatives to raise awareness and drive improved data quality across the organization (e.g., Data Working Groups, Data Literacy projects).

PS:
Collibra is RBC\xe2\x80\x99s master data management platform and includes Issues Management & Resolution (IMR) workflow and reporting capability. Must-Have:
  • 1+ years of relevant experience with data quality principles, data control design, data management or data analysis.
  • Beginner to Intermediate knowledge of data analysis methods and the ability to analyze and resolve data related issues.
  • Education in a numerical discipline, IT, business or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Experienced in preparation of reports and presentations.
  • A genuine interest in working in data.
Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis, using tools/frameworks such as SQL, Excel, Python, Hive.
  • General understanding of financial reporting, finance and risk business concepts and procedures.
  • Experience working with financial services and systems including finance and/or credit risk data.
  • Experience using Collibra or a similar data management or workflow platform.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities during busy periods.

Job Summary What is the opportunity?

In the increasingly complex world of financial services, accurate and complete data is critical for risk management and regulatory compliance. Ensuring data integrity begins with an understanding of financial services data, data quality controls and identifying and resolving data issues. As an Analyst, DQ & Issue Mgmt. Remediation you will be accountable for driving improvements in Risk and Finance data through the identification, root cause analysis, and management of data issues through to resolution for business critical processes and regulatory reports. Reporting to the Associate Director, you will define and monitor data quality controls and resolve data issues for business partners across the organization including Finance, Group Risk Management, Personal & Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management.
