Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We are currently looking for a Data Analyst, this is a 6-month contract opportunity.

The Data Analyst will help to support the Company with the regulatory compliance of Sobeys retail labels with respect to government legislation and Sobeys internal standards.

Here\'s where you\'ll be focusing:

  • Provide support to the Nutritional Labelling team by assisting, coordinating, executing and validating tasks that link to established processes\'
  • Enter and make corrections into nutritional labelling tool;
  • Accountable for ensuring SKUs and vendors are updated with progress towards compliance.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and provide guidance as required regarding the review of compositional requirements to meet Canadian legislation and guidelines for Sobeys branded food, non-food products within all categories not limited to: bakery, spreads, dry foods, snacks, confectionery, dairy, frozen entrees, beverages, meat, seafood, household, pet foods, baby foods, in-store prepared products and produce
  • Act as point of contact for communication and support with different internal partners of different functions and external partners as required;
  • Provide technical communication to/and support for vendors;
  • Participate with different responsibilities such as special programs development, recipes creation in the system, integrity of product-related components and attached allergens;
  • Successfully collaborate with cross-functional team members to drive continuous improvement including regulatory support
  • Familiar with emerging regulatory issues to determine business impact, implications, and opportunities would be an asset
  • Familiar with regulatory guidance on nutrition and regulatory affairs to marketing, product development, procurement and quality assurance teams as assigned by the manager would be an asset
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
  • Other duties as required

What you have to offer:
  • Undergraduate Degree combined with 2 or more years of relevant work experience in a Data Entry role or a combination or educational and work experience deemed equivalent; preference will be given to individuals who possess degree in Food Science, Nutrition or related sciences.
  • Experience with strategic analysis considered an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with specific proficiency in MS Word, Excel and a database environment.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written); (French would be an asset)
  • Ability to deliver professional support to the cross functional teams.
Preference will be given to candidate who have a background or familiarity with:
  • Industry knowledge of food, non-food related Canadian legislation, policies, and guidelines regarding food composition, nutrient content, and labelling requirements
  • Industry knowledge in nutrition, food chemistry, product composition, and methods of analysis
  • Knowledge of impending government policies, standards and initiatives with creative regulatory problem-solving expertise
  • Bilingual French/English will be considered an asset
