Purpose:

Contributes to the overall success of Asset Services - Corporate Action Notification team in Toronto, Canada for Global Wholesale Operations ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team\'s business strategies and objectives. The analyst of Asset Services - Corporate Action Notification is responsible for the day-to-day creation and review of new Corporate Action announcement for publishing to advisors and clients and ensure the securities impacted are appropriately identified in the book of record systems. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

What you\'ll do:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Responsible for conducting day-to-day operations and workflows within the Notifications team by ensuring department procedures in retrieving corporate action events and disseminating the information to the field are adhered to.
  • Responsible for review of depositories (Domestic and International) bulletins and second sourcing the announcement
  • Draft internal bulletin for review by assistant manager
  • Publish bulletins to internal repository for distribution
  • Advise processing team of short expiry bulletins
  • Provides bulletin production stats daily through KPI reporting.
  • Daily reconciliation of published bulletins versus diarized events to ensure all bulletins that require publishing have been published
  • Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Assists with managing team workflows
  • Corporate Action are only such units in the Bank and are directly responsible for providing related services to all the accounts for Scotia Capital Inc., Wealth Management Scotia McLeod, ITRADE, Scotia Trust, Prime Brokerage, BNS Custody Services and BNS Foreign Subsidiaries.
  • Potential for significant ($100,000+) financial loss because of incorrect interpretation of corporate action / entitlements materials, processing error or delays.
  • Number of Systems/Applications: 10+
  • Excellent time management and teamwork skills are essential in accomplishing many tasks.
  • Ability to organize and analyze data and problem solve with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to respond effectively to fluctuating volumes within constrained time frames and stressful situations
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma
Work Arrangement:

This position is currently a Hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work three days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
