This position reports into the Senior Manager, Allocations, Period End Close & Other Accounting in Financial Business Services (FBS) Record to Report (RTR).

What you will do:

• Review JEs/work done by the Managed Service on Calculation and booking of allocations to and from branches, plants, departments, segment and other allocations for the Retail business including allocation crossing Legal entities, companies and ERP systems. e.g., Verify if an invoice was issued to the receiving charges company when is required
• Review journal entries/work done by the Managed Service for period end close accruals/prepaids and reversals
• Complete variance analysis of Prepaid Expenses and Accruals as part of the month end close activities
• Complete Interco analysis when necessary for Allocations crossing Legal entities, companies and ERPs
• Supervise activities for Other Specialty Accounting - FBS transitioning to RTR
• Review monthly closing duties for the Retail business including reviews of balance sheet reconciliations for AP/AR related accounts and allocations, journal entries
• Calculate segment allocations
• Explain allocation amounts to stakeholders
• Develop and implement allocation methodologies
• Provide support to auditors as required
• Perform review of trial balances (e.g., accruals, transaction types)
• Develop, implement and update allocations & period end close governance protocols and policies
• Collaborate with the Leader of Allocations & Period End Close on Developing, implementing and updating Allocations & Period End Close governance protocols and policies
• Check consistency on application of Allocations & Period End Close governance protocols and policies
• Calculate and post one-time and recurring accruals/prepaids & reversals
• Complete debt accounting and relevant amortization of fair value
• Complete the closing process at the business unit / legal entity level (incl. local adjustments)
• Coordinate and control with the Managed Services closing process within the ERPs systems (including closing of sub ledgers)
• Coordinate with other teams to receive information required for calculating/posting accruals/prepaids
• Review and approve allocation transactions for the Retail business
• Review day to day activities and coordinate with Managed Services for the Retail business
• Perform ad hoc analysis as required by project work

What you will bring:

• Bachelor\'s Degree in Accounting from a recognized institution - or equivalent experience
• 3+ years accounting experience, Financial Statement preparation a plus
• Experience in finance-related role preferable (preference given to those with an accounting designation)
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent computer (ERP Accounting Software, Microsoft Office-Excel) skills
• Capacity to learn multiple processes and support other positions
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills
• Highly detail oriented
• Process improvement
• Agriculture business knowledge considered an asset
• Business Analyst Certificate is considered a plus
• Education or experience in Information Technology
• Knowledge of accounting principles; IFRS experience is considered an asset
