Office of the Chief Investment Officer (OCIO)

The Office of the Chief Investment Officer (\xe2\x80\x9cOCIO\xe2\x80\x9d) mandate is to enable the Chief Investment Officer (\xe2\x80\x9cCIO\xe2\x80\x9d) by providing the CIO with the necessary resources and expertise to perform the CIO\xe2\x80\x99s accountabilities. OCIO consists of two groups: Investment Portfolio Management and Integrated Strategies.

Investment Portfolio Management (IPM)

The Investment Portfolio Management (\xe2\x80\x9cIPM\xe2\x80\x9d) group works on behalf of the CIO to maximize the returns of the Investment Portfolios at the targeted level of risk through providing dedicated support for each CIO-approved investment strategy, active portfolio design, investment signals, investment decision analysis and governance and communications.

We manage our portfolio of active strategies (\xe2\x80\x9cActive Portfolio\xe2\x80\x9d) through which internal or external specialists can deliver incremental value-add returns through investment selection. Annually, the CIO reviews the mandate and performance of each investment strategy to refresh the Fund\xe2\x80\x99s capital allocations.

Position Description:

We are presently recruiting for an Analyst to join the Investment Portfolio Management Group\xe2\x80\x99s \xe2\x80\x93 Active Portfolio Design team in the Office of the Chief Investment Officer. The Analyst will help the Active Portfolio Design team design and implement Active Portfolio solutions related to the top-of-the-house instructions (or \xe2\x80\x9cInvestment Signals\xe2\x80\x9d) that Investment Departments receive from IPM. The successful candidate will help develop Active Portfolio Design initiatives to improve cohesion, consistency and understanding across asset-class verticals through research and analysis.

As a representative for IPM, the role will also include partnering with Total Fund Management, Investment Departments and enabling Departments across the Fund to plan and design appropriate tools, processes, and reports to allow IPM to manage the Active Portfolio.

As a member of the Active Portfolio Design team within IPM, the Analyst will support a range of activities, broadly classified into three areas: (1) Active Portfolio Design, (2) Monitoring and Management, and (3) Communication & Planning.

Qualifications

Contribute to Active Portfolio Design\xe2\x80\x99s ability to maximize returns of the Active Portfolio in line with Total Portfolio preferences and constraints:
  • Active Portfolio Design: Participate in the strategic asset allocation process. This key role includes financial/statistical modeling, portfolio analysis, and portfolio construction work related to long-term asset allocation.
  • Assist in implementing of portfolio design priorities for the Active Portfolio to align with the Total Portfolio constraints and priorities set by Total Fund Management (TFM).
  • Investment Strategy Characterizations: With guidance help maintain the process for capturing key strategy attributes and ensure consistent calibration across active strategies.
  • Active Portfolio Liquidity: Assist in planning the Active Portfolio\xe2\x80\x99s liquidity requirements according to the Total Portfolio\xe2\x80\x99s design priorities and governance framework.
Improve Active Portfolio monitoring to enhance on-going Active Portfolio management:
  • Lead the weekly monitoring of the capital pipeline monitoring for capital management.
  • Identify gaps in current tools and processes under guidance and collaborate with senior team members to prioritize improvements and developments.
  • Collaborate and maintain strong relationships with key partners such as Finance, Risk and Technology & Operations
Support Active Portfolio communication and stakeholder engagement:
  • Assist in creating management and Board committee materials, including memos and presentations as needed under guidance.
Support the coordination and prioritization of IPM initiatives:
  • Participate in IPM collaborations to integrate diverse views and boost project value.
  • Take personal responsibility for quality of work and timelines.
  • Bring value-added insight to information received and offer new ideas and solutions.
  • Keep managers and colleagues apprised of progress and seek assistance as required.
  • Other duties as required.
