Analyst, Ability Management

Reporting to the Staff Wellness and Ability Programs Manager, the Analyst role emphasizes disability management, workplace accommodations, and facilitating return-to-work plans for employees facing illness or injury. Key responsibilities include case management, collaboration with external vendors including Telus Health, Manulife, and WCB as well as internal teams, to ensure comprehensive support. Additionally, the advisor assists with organizational, and workforce needs to design proactive strategies that prevent injuries and foster a healthy, engaged, and productive work environment.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):

Initiate referrals to third party vendors including communicating with employee to gather information before submitting referral Communicates proactively, confidentially, and professionally with HR Partners and Clients to ensure they are informed of the status of active files Supports the HR Partners by preparing materials/documents as it related to ability management leaves In collaboration with the Manager, Ability Management Programs, support the HR Partners with return to work and facilitation of accommodations. Document and ensure follow-ups are done in a timely manner for agreed accommodations. Monitor effectiveness and adjust as needed Escalate complex or unresolved cases as needed Track cases in relevant system(s) Extract and analyze data from multiple systems and provide regular reporting to help inform workforce planning, track cases, and identify trends Builds strong relationships with HR and COE colleagues

Qualifications / Requirements:



University degree in a related field Three (3) years related experience in a disability management or human resources related role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered CDMP or CPHR designation or willingness to obtain designation, considered an asset Experience working with external vendors and insurance providers is an asset Knowledge of best practice in Disability Management Knowledge of applicable Disability Management and Human Resource legislation, policies, processes and practices. (i.e. Public Services Employee Relations Act, University of Calgary and AUPE Collective Agreement, TUCFA Collective Agreement, Employment Standards Code, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Human Rights Legislation, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workers Compensation Act) Demonstrated effective skills including problem solving, communication, change management, relationship building, teamwork, consulting/advising, negotiating/influencing, analytics and decision making Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism Computer skills, strong proficiency with Word, Excel, PeopleSoft or other HRIS Strong analytical skills with experience in data reporting Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
