Work Status: Full-Time

About the Role:
Global News Radio is looking for a Digital Coordinator for a full time position. Reporting to the Digital Managing Editor you will be part of a team of dedicated reporters responsible to keep the 630 CHED and GNR 880 websites current and relevant by writing original stories and curating news content.

You'll be working on things like:

• Pitch, chase and write stories for 630 CHED with a focus on Alberta, specifically Calgary.
• Write breaking news for 630 CHED and GNR 880
• Work with Radio reporters to ensure the website and radio news is current and up to date
• Ensure audio/radio content is on the websites
• Generate original story ideas
• Manage the front page of the CHED and GNR 880 websites
• On-air radio hits as needed
• Publish content to website and social media channels
• Available to work weekdays, evenings and weekends
• Other duties as assigned

If you have the following...we want to hear from you!

• Degree or diploma in Journalism from a recognized institution and 1 years' experience in a small/medium market.
• Familiarly with online publishing tools (e.g. Wordpress)
• Strong writing and storytelling skills
• An interest in municipal government in Edmonton would be considered an asset
• Understanding of how major news organizations are employing a wide range of digital platforms and formats
• Working knowledge of new media tools and technologies (Twitter, Facebook, etc), and related applications
• A passion for breaking news and Canadian news
• Ability to handle the demands and pressure of multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines in a high-tech environment
• Proven abilities as a team player with a positive attitude
• Self-starter with good communication skills
• Familiarity with Canadian Press style would be considered assets
