AltaGas - Sr. EHS AdvisorThe Sr. EHS Advisor will work closely with facility / business leadership, workers and contractors to deliver superior EHS performance.You Will:

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS and OMS programs, including Life Saving Rules, HSM (Health and Safety Management Program) , Incident Management and Human Performance principles.
  • Conduct advanced field visits and job site assessments, providing expert-level coaching, training, and advisory support to supervisors and workers.
  • Be present onsite at the Harmattan facility fulltime. The Sr EHS Advisor is also expected to support the satellite facilities of Didsbury and Eagle Hill as required. The position may be required to periodically travel to attend another designated office for meetings, training, and administrative leadership tasks.
  • Participate in Safety/Environmental On-Call Responder program(s), providing guidance and support in emergency and non-emergency scenarios.
  • Participate, lead and/or facilitate safety meetings or toolbox talk (TBT) meetings at job sites or facilities, ensuring meaningful engagement and practical safety discussions.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, identif systemic issues, and develop high-level corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform and oversee comprehensive job site observations, JSAs, and hazard assessments, identifying complex risks and ensuring the implementation of effective mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver in-depth field-level training, and on-the-job coaching to enhance worker knowledge of EHS best practices, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure adherence to provincial and federal regulatory requirements, and industry best practices by leading compliance efforts and assisting with internal and external audits.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on environmental management, including hazardous waste handling, spill response coordination, and regulatory compliance strategies.
  • Lead security-related activities such as facility security assessments, incident response coordination, and risk-based decision-making for site access control and asset protection.
  • Provide guidance and oversight in enterprise-wide corporate EHS initiatives,
  • Conduct inspections of facilities, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and security standards, and leading follow-up actions to drive improvements.
  • Lead the development and reporting of EHS performance metrics, incident trend analysis, and corrective actions, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a key liaison between field teams and senior leadership, effectively communicating EHS priorities, risks, and strategic recommendations.
You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, security studies, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS, operations, construction safety, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety principles, federal/provincial regulations, and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Proven experience conducting high-level incident investigations, root cause analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Strong ability to develop and deliver training programs and lead engagement initiatives.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with security protocols, emergency response planning, and risk-based hazard assessments.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel frequently to various field sites and work in operational environments.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driverxe2x80x99s license.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional CRSP) Designation; equivalent experienced considered.
