AECOM has a position available for an Air Quality Solutions Specialist in Calgary, Alberta

Job responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following * Air Dispersion Modelling

  • Air quality dispersion modelling using AERMOD, Reg. 346, Screen3, CALPUFF and CALROADS
  • Estimating air emissions for greenhouse gases, criteria air contaminants and other contaminants from stationary and mobile sources using emission factors, on-site source data and MOVES emission modeling system
  • Interpreting model results to the regulatory standards
  • Ambient Monitoring Network Support
  • Installation and decommissioning of the air monitoring equipment
  • Coordination with equipment suppliers and laboratories
  • Routine operations including trouble shooting, equipment calibration and data collection
  • Tracking the equipment performance and alerts
  • General
  • Understanding of various Transportation, Industrial and chemical sector processes
  • Knowledge of air emissions from multiple sources
  • Familiarity with air pollution control systems and concepts
  • Preparation of technical documents and reports
  • Work with internal teams and external clients
  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
  • Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, or related discipline EIT/P.Eng. licensure
  • Technical report writing skills
  • Communication skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Must be willing and capable of working outdoors year-round, climb ladders and stairs, and work at elevated heights.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and hoisting test equipment weighing possibly up to 50 lbs.
  • Pre-employment motor vehicle driving record verification will be conducted
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering is preferred
  • Relevant experience that includes environmental testing or analytical laboratory experience is desired
  • Knowledge in the practices required to generate valid scientific data
  • Able to work both independently and in a project team environment
  • Ability to record test data legibly, completely, and accurately
  • Ability to recognize hazards and work safely in an industrial setting. Show initiative and interest in professional development Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be willing and capable of travel and working outdoors
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and hoisting test equipment weighing possibly up to 50 lbs.
