Air Brake Endorsement Instructor.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified
Air Brake Endorsement Instructor
to deliver high?quality air brake endorsement training, in compliance with ICBC standards. The ideal candidate will teach both theory and practical pre?trip inspection components, helping students earn their air brake certificate and endorsement.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver air brakes theory instruction to students (single?unit and/or combination unit vehicles)
Conduct pre?trip inspection practical training using air brake equipped vehicles
Ensure all instruction follows ICBC requirements for air brake courses
Prepare students for knowledge and pre?trip inspection tests as required by ICBC
Monitor student progress, assess performance, provide coaching and feedback
Maintain accurate records of training hours and student completions
Issue course completion documentation (e.g., air brake card or letter) including required information: school name, course date, instructor number, theory hours completed, student name and driver's licence number
ICBC Requirements / Qualifications:
To be considered, applicants must meet the following ICBC criteria:
Be at least
19 years of age
Hold a valid
BC driver's licence
with the
air brake endorsement
Have
at least two years' experience operating air brake?equipped vehicles
Have successfully completed an
air brake instructor certification course
Hold a valid
Air Brake Instructor's Certificate of Qualification
issued by ICBC
A driving record acceptable to ICBC (e.g., limited or no serious infractions)
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
Strong communication and presentation skills
Prior experience in adult education or training is an asset
Ability to explain technical systems clearly (braking systems, safety inspections, etc.)
Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Reliable, professional, safety?oriented attitude
Working Conditions & Schedule:
Instruction takes place in classroom and in?vehicle or yard with air?brake equipment
Flexible scheduling may include evenings or weekends depending on student demands
