Permanent Full-Time, based on a 35-hour work week.


An additional 27% Job Family Market Multiplier will be added to the posted salary.

An additional 3% Location Allowance will be added to posted salary for northern location.

Note: Candidates will be placed in the OGC Classification Level as established, through job evaluation of a specific set of duties and responsibilities assigned to a position and based on the combined education and experience of the candidate.

About the Job:



As one of the BCER's agriculture experts, the Agrologist is responsible to identify and implement criteria, tactics, and operational policies suitable for energy activities on the agricultural land base that provides for energy activity development while minimizing negative impacts to agricultural values. The incumbent is responsible to ensure agricultural professional, scientific and technical advice and information is incorporated into the operations of the BCER as it relates to applications for non-farm use, subdivision and fill placement and/or removal in Agricultural Land Reserve. This includes primary support for development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of application guidance and review for transmission lines and wind and solar projects.


The Agrologist will provide professional and technical advice on other agriculture related regulatory matters as well as providing key information and acting as point of contact for related landowner or rights holder concerns. As a subject matter expert within the BCER, the incumbent provides expert advice to assist with decision making, compliance activities, restoration, and coordination of agriculture-related research initiatives. The position represents the BCER in matters pertaining to the regulation of energy activities and their effect on agricultural values.


The Agrologist interacts with a wide variety of officials, Ministry representatives within various levels of governments and non-Ministry representatives, as well as landowners, and provides a central point of contact and coordination for agriculture-related initiatives. The incumbent is expected to, in coordination with key staff, develop and maintain working relationships with Agricultural Land Commission staff, the Farmer's Information Service, local officials, municipal and provincial departments that interact with the BCER in the field of Agriculture and the delivery of the BCER's mandate.
