Overview

Westminster Mutual is looking for a detail-oriented Farm and/or Commercial Underwriter to join our team. You'll evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business in the agricultural and/or commercial property sectors, helping ensure profitable growth while delivering exceptional service to our brokers, agents, and policyholders. This role combines technical risk assessment with relationship management in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

What you'll do

- Underwriting new business, renewals, and endorsements on farm and/or commercial risks

- Collaborating with brokers and agents to clarify risk and resolve concerns

- Recommending premiums and coverage terms based on sound risk analysis

- Processing policies using Cognition+ and ensure complete, accurate documentation

- Supporting product development and broker training for new product offerings

- Escalate complex or out-of-authority risks for review

What you'll need

- 3+ years of experience in underwriting an asset

- Knowledge of agricultural operations, rural property, and commercial risk is an asset

- Post-secondary education in Insurance, Agriculture, or Business (or equivalent experience)

- CIP Designation, or in progress, an asset

- Strong decision-making, communication, and relationship-building skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance systems (Cognition+ an asset)

- Analytical, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused mindset
