Job Summary

Aggregate Crushing Supervisor

Terus Construction Ltd is seeking a full-time Aggregate Crushing Supervisor to support operations throughout the province of BC. The majority of operations are in the East and West Kootenay regions, and this position will be based out of these regions.

Crushing Operations

  • Work cooperatively with the crushing crews to plan, organize and communicate assignments aligned with the required volume needed in each of the operating businesses.
  • Ensure that the crushing production meets aggregates specs in both quantity and quality.
  • Ensure employees and crushing spreads are mobilized efficiently and economically.
  • Ensure that the operations respect regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Conduct pass off meetings for all crushing projects, meeting with the Crushing Foreman, Crushing Manager and Project Manager to establish targets and goals.
  • Help coordinate repairs and parts ordering.
  • Ensure month end requirements are met including reporting of equipment hours, fuel reporting and administration requirements.
  • Meet weekly with all crushing foremen, crushing manager and go over safety at each crusher and crushing project.
  • Assist Crushing Foremen with any additional operational requirements when required.
  • Other duties as required.
  • This position requires 90 percent working in the field.
Health, Safety, and Environmental
  • Understand and abide by all OH&S Regulations, Safety Policy, other internal policies and safety directives that may be implemented on specific sites from those that the Company is contracted with to perform the work (ie. owners, general contractors).
  • Provide leadership to the crews and work towards a positive safety culture with the field staff and management team. Set a positive example at all times.
  • Participate in tailgate safety meetings & hazard assessments as required by OH&S regulations and company policy.
  • Participate in the review of project sites daily for changing conditions that may negatively affect safety of employees or subcontractors working for the Company.
  • Participate in completing Job Site Hazard Assessments as required by OH&S regulations and company policy.
  • Inform and advise immediate supervisor of items of concern and aide in making adjustments to work schedule or methods of construction to ensure safety of workers at all times.
  • Participate in the review of project sites regularly to identify environmental concerns in order to avoid negative impacts on the environment. Notify immediate supervisor immediately if item of concern is found so that mitigating measures can be implemented immediately if necessary, in order to minimize negative environmental impact.
  • Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems.
  • Prepare and issue as required reports related to the following: work related accident, incident, environmental incidents and other reports.
  • Ensure timely submittal of daily hazard assessments, weekly toolbox talks and monthly plant inspections.
  • General housekeeping and cleanliness onsite (including equipment).
Employment Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge in the operation and management of gravel crushing operations.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of crushing equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand project specs and contract documents.
  • Ability to work well with others, \xe2\x80\x9cpeople skills\xe2\x80\x9d.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Appropriate work clothes and safety footwear.
  • Valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and clean current drivers abstract.
  • Computer skills: Outlook, Excel, Word.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Periodically lift items weighing more than 50 lbs.
  • May be required to work long hours and on occasion 7 days a week, in town and out of town assignments.
  • Will be required to be accessible to field calls/emails after work hours or on weekends as needed to coordinate with operations.
  • Labour work may be required in assisting with the crew when an extra hand is required.
  • May be required to do a lot of walking and standing in a noisy environment.
  • May be working in inclement weather: rain, snow, heat, cold, and wind.
