VMA offers an Early Years program for Toddler and Pre-Kindergarten students (18 months-4 years) that operates year-round, and a Private School for Kindergarten-Grade 6 students. At VMA, small classroom sizes and consistent groups are prioritized across all programs to create an intimate, engaging, and supportive environment where children can thrive. Our programs are run at two Campuses (68 Daisy Ave and 432 Horner Ave), both conveniently located in South Etobicoke.

The Role



VMA is inviting applications for the part-time position of an After-School Teacher, working in our Day School program. In this role, you will co-run an After-School program with another Educator. Additional responsibilities include supporting students on field trips, outdoor education days, school assemblies, and concerts, and running a full-day program during PA Days, March Break, and Summer Camp.

What You'll Do



Develop and implement an engaging, stimulating, and appropriate After-School program with the classroom co-teacher Direct and lead co-teacher(s), where necessary, to effectively implement the classroom program Create and maintain a learning environment where materials are purposeful to students and free of clutter Ensure availability for consultation with families regarding students' development. Communicate appropriate and professional guidance and feedback to families through meetings, phone calls, and verbal communications. Safely walk students to and from partner schools during the After-School program Actively engage in the outdoor program and ensure consistent supervision of all students Advise your Team Lead of pertinent information concerning students and their families on a timely basis Develop consistent communication channels with students' homeroom teachers to inform each other of all relevant information regarding students and families. Ensure consistency in behaviour management strategies, conflict resolution, and adherence to VMA's policies and procedures. Plan full-day programs on non-instructional school days (PA Days, Christmas Break, March Break, and Summer Camp) Ensure supervision requirements are met at all times, including walks, field trips, and off-site activities Encourage positive social interactions and resolve conflicts as needed Enforce VMA's policies and maintain a safe, inclusive environment Model positive and appropriate adult-student relationships

What You'll Need



A Degree or Diploma in either Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, or Recreation and Leisure Services is considered a strong asset Registration to the College of Early Childhood Educators and in Good Standing is considered a strong asset Minimum of 1 year experience leading a Before- and After-School program Previous Summer Camp experience is considered a strong asset 1 year of experience working in a licensed child care program is considered a strong asset Experience working with special needs children is considered a strong asset Excellent English language communication skills, both written and verbal Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on team building and demonstrated conflict resolution skills Current and clear Vulnerable Sector Check, or willing to receive one Standard First Aid/CPR C certification Available Monday-Friday between 2:15pm-6:00 pm and between 7:30 am-6 pm on non-instructional days Able to legally work in Canada
