Position: Afterschool Support Staff

Position Description:

McSheffrey Resource Centre are seeking an energetic and positive Afterschool Program Support Staff to support our afterschool program for children and youth ages 5-18. This role involves engaging participants in active play, games, sports, outdoor recreation, as well as assisting with snack preparation and creative craft activities.

The successful candidate will help create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment that supports the physical, social, and emotional well-being of all participants. This is a fast-paced and sometimes challenging role, requiring patience, adaptability, and the ability to respond calmly and positively to diverse needs.

Role and Responsibilities:

Plan and lead activities (i.e. games, sports, crafts, activities). Supervise children during recreation time. Encourage teamwork, participation, and positive behaviour. Ensure safety and program rules are followed. Assist with daily attendance and basic program set up and clean up. Prepare and serve snacks. Assist with other related duties as assigned.
Eligibility:

Must provide a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check. Must have past experience working with children. Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in Newfoundland and Labrador. Temporary residents may be eligible if they are international graduates with a Post-graduate Work Permit or have an Open Work Permit. First aid/ CPR would be considered an asset.
Position details:

Salary: $ 17.00 per hour. 15 hours per week

Hours: 1:30 - 4:30 pm Monday to Friday Position start date: Immediately Position end date: June 19th 2026 Deadline to apply January 23rd 2026
