The Opportunity


MFRC's Middle Years Department is seeking a

Program Facilitator

for after-school programs within in the Malvern and North Scarborough Area. You will be coordinating activities related to physical health, nutrition, social skills, academic support and more. The Program leaders will work with other staff to ensure that program guidelines are followed and statistics are recorded daily. Each Program staff will be required to prepare snacks daily for all.

Job Responsibilities:





Program Delivery:

Develop and implement an after-school program that offers physical activities, homework support, healthy eating and nutrition education, wellness, leadership development and discussion groups with older participants, as well as other activities that meet the needs of children in grades 1 to 8. Ensure that program plans are in place and programs are implemented as per the Ministry and MFRC's guidelines. Participate in training, meetings, and workshops to navigate challenges and new programming as required. Maintain positive relationships with school, (i.e., teachers, administrators, caretakers), community members and parents to ensure that the program operates smoothly. Participate in program evaluations and assessments. Work with partner agencies and volunteers to offer activities to enhance the program. Manage challenging behaviours/complex needs of children and youth. Work with the Coordinator and Manager to support children, youth and families through challenges that may arise including child welfare concerns. Ensure the space is clean and tidy at the conclusion of each day. Create a playful, safe, diverse and inclusive environment for all participants to feel welcome. Assists with program-specific special events and fundraising initiatives. Ensures an approach that displays a positive attitude, sensitivity and understanding toward people of all abilities, backgrounds and orientations. Escorts children to and/or from school (Centre) depending on site. Other duties as assigned.

Administration:

Register participants for the program and keep daily statistics on program attendance. Assists in program-related administrative duties (attendance, calendar, menu etc.) Ensures that all incidents/accidents are reported and required documentation forwarded immediately to the supervisor. Ensure participation numbers are on target daily. Promote program at school and community events

Necessary Skills/Qualifications and Other Requirements:

Be a positive role model and enjoy working with children and youth. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting. Ensures the safety and well-being of the program participants at all times. Ability to comply with policies regarding confidentiality, privacy and record keeping. Experience with conflict resolution and problem-solving Ability to be adaptable and flexible with ongoing changes to the program. Experience or education (or combination) in social service, education or community development in particular proven capacity to support youth around recreation, education or nutrition is an asset. High Five Principles of Health Child Development required (must receive training within first 3 months of employment Standard First Aid and CPR required(must receive training within first 3 months of employment Clear Vulnerable Sector Screen if over 18 years of age

Terms of Employment:

Contract Duration:

September 2025 to June 2026 with the possibility of renewal for 2026/2027 school year. (Including opportunities to work Winter Break, March Break and PA Days)

Location:

MFRC's 8 school site locations.

Amount:

$18.00 per hour

Hours of Work:

15 hours per week between the hours of 2:45- 6 pm. Some evening work may be required. Must be available a minimum of 3 days between Monday and Friday.

Interviews

: Successful applicants will be contacted to attend an in-person interview. Returning staff should anticipate an interview as well.

Accountability:

The position will report to the Program Coordinators, Middle Years Centre
