Position Summary The Production Supervisor works as part of a team to meet the daily production goals. They must oversee designated production workers and Lead Hands to complete one or more tasks that are part of product creation, finishing, inspecting or palletizing. They must report any problems or discrepancies to their supervisor. Strict adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is required. Reporting Relationships
  • The Production Supervisor will supervise all production workers including line lead hands during a specified shift. They will then report to the Plant Manager/ Director of Operations. They are expected to interact with other members of the leadership team, Quality Assurance department, maintenance and other staff as required to carry out their duties.
Key Responsibilities Duties as described, included to but not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment
  • Safely Starting up, setting up and stopping equipment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Pull damaged or non-conforming product off the line.
  • Conduct Quality Control Checks and record data.
  • Maintain accurate production and employee records, confirmation of payroll times for production workers;
  • Openly communicates with co-workers to inform them of anything unusual or potentially dangerous;
  • Adhere to GMPs, SQF and HACCP written Program.
  • Facilitates and directs team members work flow within the assigned department, including distributing work, disseminating information, assigning team members for absences, answering questions, and resolving problems within the work unit.
  • Anticipates and reacts to production problems or delays, materials shortages and equipment malfunctions. Provides technical assistance for equipment malfunctions and expediting repairs
  • Supervises, evaluates and trains the work group. Assists in accident investigation and corrective action.
  • Promotes safe work environment and assure employees follow all safety policies.
  • Provides a strong floor presence and understanding of the processes adequate to set the example for others to follow.
  • Keeps management informed of developments as they occur.
  • Oversee the performance of all quality checks performed by associates.
  • Provides training to shift personnel to make sure all employees have the tools necessary for optimum performance.
  • Handles day-to-day production documentation, ensures its accuracy and timely input into reporting systems.
  • Champions all safety initiatives within the facility to ensure all safety goals and objectives are met, maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Ensures that all products produced meet or exceed customer specifications.
  • Oversee the performance of all quality checks performed by associates.
  • Provide Occupational First Aid according to regulations and company practices.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory/leadership experience within a food facility/manufacturing environment;
  • Experience in managing people;
  • Attention to detail and produce timely results

  • Demonstrate full knowledge and understanding of production processes and methods, and strong knowledge of safety requirements and standards.

Knowledge and Skills
  • High school diploma, food safe certificate, WHMIS and HACCP knowledge are an asset.
  • Fluency in the English language (both orally and in writing). High level oral and written communication skills
  • High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, motivate employees and elicit work output
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures
  • Knowledge of basic technology of area where assigned
  • Experience supervising employees in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Occupational First Aid Certified (OFA 1 or 2) preferred.
Working Conditions
  • May require overtime on occasion
  • Requires physical fitness and mobility in the plant environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • A tolerance for hot temperatures
  • To stand and walk for extended periods of time while doing repetitive tasks
Shift Time: 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM (Monday to Friday) Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: From $27.00 per hour Benefits:
