JOB OVERVIEW



As Advisor, Partnerships and Philanthropy, you are responsible for undertaking partnership and philanthropy initiatives for the National Capital Commission (NCC) to implement the Partnerships and Philanthropy Framework. You communicate with existing and potential donors and partners, carry out research, prepare reports, and handle logistics and general administrative tasks related to sponsorship and philanthropy programs. You are also responsible for ensuring the implementation of NCC's Public Outreach events and activities, such as the Urbanism Lab programming, Open NCC, the Annual Public Meeting, and Public Meetings of the Board of Directors.



You work collaboratively with internal clients and external partners to develop, implement, and coordinate the overall delivery and execution of partnerships, sponsorships, and philanthropy contractual agreements, obligations, and commitments. You provide strategic advice, facilitate the negotiation of new partnerships (including the renewal of existing ones), coordinate the initiation of legal agreements, establish a critical path for delivery, and oversee the logistics for promotional materials and the organization of partner benefit receptions.



ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS





EDUCATION



A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.



EXPERIENCE



Three to five years of experience in developing and implementing partnership and philanthropic initiatives or public outreach initiatives.



KNOWLEDGE



Knowledge of the methods, approaches and techniques of stakeholder engagement, public consultation and fundraising is required in order to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external interested parties and potential donors, to facilitate the establishment of new partnerships, to plan and organize promotional initiatives and to provide advice on partnership and engagement strategies. Knowledge of research methods and practices to research information is required for the planning and organizing of partnership and philanthropic initiatives and events, and to draft reports, presentations, proposals and related documents for senior management. Knowledge of procurement and contract management, as well as familiarity with the preparation of legal agreements and protocols is required in order to liaise with service providers, and to draft contractual and legal agreements for program and outreach activities.


ABILITIES



Analytical skills are required to research best to follow current trends in public outreach programs related to event management, public programs, engagement, and creative collaboration amongst all stakeholders and participants/donors and to provide information and guidance on the proper positioning of the NCC that ensures effective strategic partnerships and philanthropy programs and consideration of the proper balance of both local and national interests. Negotiation skills are required to communicate with other parties to reach agreements and consensus on terms and conditions and contracts and require strong interpersonal diplomacy and skills to interact with and encourage philanthropic initiatives with various stakeholders. Communication skills are required to create briefing materials, reports, proposals and speaking notes to ensure consistency of the engagement approaches; write information bulletins that target a variety of client groups; and to plan, support and implement philanthropic events and strategies that will align with NCC's corporate priorities; and to consult with designated internal and external contacts to participate in planning/ implementation of initiatives to deliver the NCC's message for strategic partnerships and philanthropic activities/goals.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT



Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance. Linguistic profile: Bilingual CBC. Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
