THE JOB: Advisor, Fee Guide





The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.



Starting Salary Range: $70,856- $88,570



Reporting to the Fee Guide Manager, the Fee Guide Advisor supports the Economics team, the Tariff Committee, and physicians by providing expert advice on MSP Fee Guide and billing matters. This includes clarifying complex billing rules, assisting with clinical billing scenarios, and helping physicians navigate eligibility for restricted fee items and resolve payment disputes. The Advisor also contributes to Fee Guide modification processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with Tariff Committee policies and guidelines.



In addition, the Fee Guide Advisor plays a key role in supporting Tariff Committee operations by informing agenda planning, preparing meeting materials, and drafting clear and accessible communications. This includes amendment notifications, Board materials, website content, and newsletter updates to keep physicians and stakeholders informed. The role requires strong research, analysis, and communication skills to build effective collaboration with partners such as the Ministry of Health, Health Insurance BC, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Doctors of BC Sections and Societies.

Provides recommendations into plans/ strategies in other functions/departments, coordinating information across areas for planning purposes Conducts discussions with and writes memoranda to all levels of colleagues and peer groups in ways that supports troubleshooting and problem solving Explains the context of interrelated situations, asks probing questions, and solicits multiple sources of advice prior to taking action when appropriate

Problem Solving (A):




Diagnoses problems using formal problem-solving tools and techniques from multiple angles, probes underlying issues to generate multiple potential solutions and identifies potential consequences and risk levels Proactively anticipates and prevents problems and seeks support for problem definition and methods of resolution Devises, makes recommendations, and guides implementation of corrective and/or preventive actions for complex issues that cross organizational boundaries and are unclear in nature

Demonstrates operational agility. Uses organizational systems that result in multiple critical activities to be identified and completed on time. Renegotiates priorities as necessary Puts systems in place and uses them to monitor and detect errors and problems. Tests and inspects outputs and applies quality checks prior to work submission

WHAT YOU BRING




Advanced education in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related field, enriched by at least 3 years of directly relevant experience. Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Access, enabling efficient data management and analysis. Strong administrative, planning, and organizational abilities, underpinned by a capacity for conducting in-depth research and analyses. Possessing specialized expertise in the MSC Payment Schedule, along with a strong grasp of the Fee Guide, MSP system, and medical terminology, would be a valuable asset, positioning you as a go-to expert within the organization. Demonstrated autonomy in workload management, with a track record of effectively prioritizing and executing multiple tasks and projects. Superior interpersonal and communication skills, enhancing your ability to forge and maintain collaborative relationships across departments and with a variety of external partners. A commitment to team development, evidenced by a history of successfully mentoring team members and enhancing their professional growth.
