Job Description

As Advanced Planner, you will be responsible for supporting the development, organization, and completion of the deliverables associated to the advanced planning process for new construction at Davie. More specifically, you will:


Develop, organize, and maintain the project-specific build strategies including, but not limited to, macroplanning, production targets, and strategic plans. Develop the block and zone subdivision for each vessel type. Collaborate with production to develop the block erection sequence. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment. Develop the vessel-level product work breakdown structure (PWBS). Develop an interim product catalogue. Collaborate with engineering to define the coding system for all structural and outfit elements. Support the development of production processes at each Davie work centre. Support the analysis of capacity and throughput at work centre or station level. Support the development of production norms to ensure accurate estimating and future performance analysis. In collaboration with production and engineering, conduct spatial analysis of the 3D production model. Collaborate with quality control, accuracy control, and health and safety teams to ensure development of lifting plans and transportation plans. Collaborate with production and vessel designers to ensure all additional structure and lifting supports are modelled. Ensure all access and egress requirements during production are accounted for. Support the execution of the assembly planning process. Collaborate with the ship designers to ensure all data elements, required fields, and meta data are correctly assigned in the 3D model. Collaborate with production to ensure that all assigned parts are correctly planned in the 3D model assembly planning tool. Ensure that, where required, all outputs to product lifecycle management (PLM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are correctly aligned to ensure a good end-to-end process. Ensure that the 3D production model, created by the vessel designers, incorporates the rules established in Davie's DFMA rules. Collaborate with engineering and production to develop opportunities for modularization. Generate regular reports on progress and tracking. Ensure all deliverables follow the corporate management system guidelines. Support departmental and program schedule development. Regularly review and update processes related to advanced planning to improve efficiency. Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies that can improve the shipyard's vessel construction and planning processes.

Qualifications:




A minimum of seven years experience in shipbuilding. College degree or diploma in related field of study. Good knowledge of shipbuilding production processes. Ability to work in a confident, self-direct manner while prioritizing a large volume of work. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Familiarity with vessel systems, vessel outfitting, and vessel construction. Experience working with AVEVA MARINE and ENGINEERING or similar would be considered an asset. Experience with AutoCAD as well as PLM and ERP systems would be an asset. Scheduling experience would be an asset. Strong MS Office tool capability is required.
Successfully complete the investigation and security clearance process required by the Federal Government Contract Security Program.
