About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager of the Emergency Department, the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) practices autonomously and collaboratively to ensure the delivery of safe, competent, compassionate, and ethical care to Nova Scotians, across their life span, as they seek emergency services. The ACP is a valuable member of the Interprofessional (IP) Healthcare team within the Emergency Department. The ACP practices within the ACP Scope of Practice and conduct as defined by the professional registration body, College of Paramedics of Nova Scotia. The ACP accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually enhancing competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, research and continuous quality activities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Completion of ACP Program accepted by the College of Paramedics of Nova Scotia.
  • Five (5) years (minimum) of recent paramedic experience; previous Emergency Department experience an asset.
  • /Registration/Designation/ Required Certification
  • Registered and licensed with the College of Paramedics of Nova Scotia
  • Certification/willing to obtain in Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS)
  • Certification/willing to obtain in Basic and Advanced Care Life Support (BCLS/ACLS)
  • Certification/willing to obtain in Pediatric and Neonatal Resuscitation Programs (PALS & NRP)
  • Certification/willing to obtain in International Trauma Life Support (ITL)
  • Certification/willing to obtain education in Splinting & Casting/Wound closure procedures
  • Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, patient assessment and telecommunications skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Salary Information

$30.91 - $35.86 hourly
