The Division: The Corporate Services Division provides leadership, direction, governance and support services to the Ministry of Citizens\xe2\x80\x99 Services (over 2200 employees in 65 communities) with respect to financial management, strategic human resources, corporate projects, strategic and business planning, enterprise risk management and facilities management and security. Reporting to the Security Manager, the Security Business Advisor provides support in the continued planning, development, and delivery of the Ministry\xe2\x80\x99s comprehensive corporate security program. This position works both independently and as part of a team, providing advice and recommendations, skilled in report writing and creating and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences. This position supports divisions\xe2\x80\x99 security projects, responds to ministry security events (such as Targeted Threat of Violence in the workplace, general incidents including loss/thefts, protests), and leads investigations to implement safeguards that reduce vulnerabilities. The Security Business Advisor position deals with sensitive and in most cases confidential situations which require diplomacy and tactfulness. The position also requires a mature understanding of the contemporary security environment and the ability to identify cost-effective security measures in the context specific program risks. The Security Business Advisor supports and liaises with central government agencies, government ministries, ministries, local governments, and other community partners such as local enforcement agencies to inform on best practices regarding crime and threat reduction. Job Requirements:
Post-secondary degree in a related field; OR a combination of relevant security/facilities management education, experience and training may be considered.
Minimum two (2)years demonstrated experience in the security field working directly with clients/stakeholders and/or security partners such as municipal, provincial or federal law enforcement.
Experience supporting or leading confidential investigations, risk assessments, security planning.
Experience supporting or leading the Risk Management process.
Experience drafting, creating and delivering written material/presentations such as: speaking and briefing notes, procedures documents to a variety of audiences
Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
Candidates who hold a security designation such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP).
Experience in the direct management of conflict or physical threats in security environments.
Experience working as a crisis responder (ex. a crisis hotline).
Experience supporting or leading the development and implementation of third-party security related contracts.
Experience with Business Continuity Planning.
Provisos:
Candidate must be willing and able to achieve CPTED certification within six months of hire.
Candidate must have and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver\'s License.
This position will require the ability for overnight travel within the province
