Become part of a skilled legal team and help protect BC\'s most vulnerable citizens The Public Guardian and Trustee of BC is an independent statutory corporation sole and acts under provincial legislation to protect the legal rights and interests of children, vulnerable adults and deceased and missing persons. Employees of the PGT provide quality service in a respectful work environment that demands accountability and integrity. The Child and Youth Services Division (CYS) protects the legal and financial interests of children and youth under the authority of a range of provincial laws. CYS works on behalf of and directly with children and youth as well as with their parents or guardians. CYS provides services to children and youth under four main program areas of Settlement Submissions under the Infants Act, Trust Services, Property Guardian Services and Legal Protective Services. The Paralegal, Child and Youth Services, reports to the Legal Practice Lead in the Child and Youth Services Legal Department. The Paralegals work closely with in-house counsel and other divisional staff to ensure seamless services to clients. Paralegals manage their own caseload and are responsible for carrying out reviews, analyzing and evaluating applications for Representation Grants under the Wills, Estates and Succession Act and the Estate Administration Act, Notices to Proceed under the Limitation Act and supporting PGT in-house counsel and divisional staff with personal injury and civil litigation of large, complex, sensitive and, at times, high-profile client cases.
