About the Opportunity

The purpose of the Admitting Clerk position is to receive and register inpatients and outpatients in a professional, efficient and caring manner in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. This position also involves inputting Lab tests for patients arriving for Blood Collections. Responsibilities include:

  • Admitting, discharging and transfering patients
  • Registering outpatients for clinics, Day Surgery, Emergency
  • Operating the switchboard and directing calls as required to departments and patients
  • Maintaining current knowledge of alarm procedures
  • Acting as a receptionist to the general public and other clients
  • Processing laboratory test requests
  • Generating, distributing and maintaining daily/monthly statistical reports
  • Accepting financial payments, providing receipts, facilitating transport of receipts/payments to finance and maintaining cash drawers
  • Other job-related duties as assigned
About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Grade 12
  • One year secretarial or business course
  • Medical Terminology Course or willingness to obtain
  • One (1) year experience in the clerical field
  • Proficient keyboarding skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills - a high degree of tact, judgement and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in an area with frequent interruptions

Hours
  • Permanent, Part-Time (40%) Position; 28 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$22.89 - $24.89 Hourly
