ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

:

Consistent with University policy and the objectives and priorities of the Registrar's Office, the Admissions Officer is responsible for providing accurate and timely admission to applicants of the University. This position works in coordination with the Registrar in matters of process and transcript evaluation. The incumbent is primarily responsible for the data entry, information collection and decision processing for admissions and provides advice and information to the Registrar, Recruitment & Community Engagement Officers, Advisors, and prospective students/applicants.

Main responsibilities for this position will include:

Admissions


o Download and evaluate applications from Alberta Post-Secondary Application System (APAS), process correspondence and create scheduled actions.

o Handle incoming paperwork, assess application documents and calculate GPAs to determine eligibility and update application status.

o Assess applications in collaboration with the Registrar, processing updated admission letters and forwarding program information to students. Follow-up via phone or email.

o Interpret IQAS, WES, and TOEFL/IELTS scores for admissions purposes.

o Assess applications for scholarships.

Transcript Data Entry and Evaluation


o Receive and upload all incoming transcripts and supporting documentation.

o Comprehensively evaluate all incoming transcripts and supporting documentation, ensuring students meet the education requirements for admission.

o Enter all education history, grades and transfer credit into the Student Information System (SIS).

o Evaluate and determine transfer credit, utilizing resources and seeking guidance when needed.

*Other

o Maintain up to date knowledge of all program offerings including dates, deadlines, admissions requirements, program structure and program capacity.

o Monitor international student compliance with study permits extensions and expiry dates. Stay up-to-date on IRCC requirements.

o Provide front desk coverage for Enrolment Services Officer when required.

o Attend and contribute to events hosted by Student Services.

QUALIFICATIONS



Bachelor's Degree Experience in a post-secondary environment, preferably in admissions, transfer credit, international student services, enrolment services, financial aid, and/or advising would be considered an asset. Ability to adapt, plan, organize and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to effectively exercise judgement and interpret related procedure and policy to ensure consistency and equity. Knowledge of applicable regulations, policies, procedures and legislation. Understanding of educational institutions, courses, grading systems, and best practices. Strong interpersonal, communications, and advisory skills, ensuring confidentiality is maintained. Ability to provide excellent customer service while interacting with a diverse population and maintaining professionalism. Ability to remain calm during peak admissions times. Experience making effective decisions, utilizing research and technical skills and dealing well with ambiguity. Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience with computer applications including the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook), reporting tools, Adobe Acrobat, and other systems. Familiarity with Student Information Systems would be considered an asset.
