Administrator, Client Services [tax/claims]

Saint John, NB, CA, Canada

Job Description

Who we are

You know those big cities that still feel like small towns? Where everyone's friendly and helps each other out? That's like Doane Grant Thornton. Except here we're all professionals and there isn't a mayor or a general store. What we're trying to say is that we're a large and growing professional services firm that still feels like a community. We employ about 3000 people across Canada, and we truly care about our colleagues, our clients and the communities where we work and live. That's what's most important to us. We're building a thriving organization that's purpose driven and still want to remember what your favourite milkshake flavour is.

This position will provide support to two functional teams. From February through June 15, the incumbent will dedicate their efforts exclusively to the Tax team. For the remainder of the year, responsibilities will be divided equally between the Tax and Claims teams.

As an Administrator, Client Services, your responsibilities will include:

Tax related duties:

Prepare T1 returns for individuals in bankruptcy (prior, pre-, and post-bankruptcy) using TaxPrep software. Prepare provisional returns to support the Tax Manager as required. Track the status of completed returns and communicate instances of non-compliance to clients. Review Notices of Assessment received from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Assist with processing Disability Tax Credit correspondence and related payments. Serve as the primary contact for CRA MyAccount authorizations related to bankruptcy filings. Provide clerical support to the Tax team, including scanning, file assembly, and entering relevant information into the insolvency management software (Ascend).

Claims related duties:

Process secured and unsecured claims accurately and in a timely manner. Fulfill requests for creditor packages from stakeholders promptly and professionally. Correspond with creditors regarding the completion of proof of claims and provide updates on the status of submitted claims. Collaborate with administration teams to ensure all deadlines are met and documentation is complete.

Doane Grant Thornton

Just imagine being part of a team that puts "we before me", where flexAbility is a mindset, and where you trust your colleagues to have your back. At Doane Grant Thornton, you'll work with inspiring leaders who support your development, both personally and professionally. This is a place where your insatiable curiosity enables you to think, see and hear from a variety of perspectives, a place where every day is different and having the courage to grow is part of who you are. And when all this comes together, well that's when the magic happens!
