Your Opportunity:
The position is a front-line administrative role, connecting with the public in the Calgary Zone and supporting front line Public Health Inspectors in their community work. Working under minimal direct supervision, the successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility and show initiative in a busy, high-pressure office by providing administrative support for program activities relating to the Environmental Public Health (EPH). Some of the many varied responsibilities of this role include handling questions and concerns from difficult clients; resolving complex information requests; maintaining and managing electronic files and records; supporting special projects; ordering and maintaining office supplies and equipment; frequent communication with internal staff, external agencies and members of the public; preparing agendas and taking minutes for provincial committee meetings; and troubleshooting/basic maintenance of specific office equipment. The successful candidate must have the ability to respect the confidential nature of healthcare information, handle confidential client information, and carry out duties with frequent interruptions and timeline constraints. The successful candidate will be required to provide occasional back-up support in other EPH program areas to help cover vacations and/or other staff shortages.
