Leq'a:mel First Nation is located 22 kilometers east of Mission. LFN continues to assert our inherent rights of self-government over our Territory, which covers a vast area of the lower mainland. LFN has approximately 800 members and is governed by Chief and Council through Custom Election Code. Applicants must have a demonstrated knowledge of and Leq'a:mel culture, and traditions, or a willingness to learn.
The Administrative Receptionist is the first point of contact for visitors and incoming inquiries at Leq'a:mel First Nation. Reporting to the Leq'a:mel First Nation Executive Assistant (LFN-EA), this role supports the smooth flow of communication and daily operations by managing reception duties, coordinating mail and bookings for meetings and events, processing payments, and maintaining office organization. The position also contributes to community communications by assisting with the monthly newsletter and ensuring accurate and timely distribution of information across designated platforms.
Greet visitors, clients, and community members in a professional and courteous manner.
Answer and direct incoming telephone calls; respond to general inquiries.
Engage with community members to collect feedback and forward requests to appropriate departments.
Maintain a clean and organized reception area, boardroom, and kitchen.
Administrative & Operational Support
Identify, document, and direct caller information promptly.
Manage bookings for shared spaces such as the boardroom, gym, and kitchen.
Coordinate couriers, mailings, and faxes as needed.
Sort, date-stamp, and distribute incoming mail to appropriate slots.
Collect and process payments (rent, taxes, etc.) via card terminal, cash, or cheque.
Assist with preparations for meetings and organizational events.
Community Newsletter Coordination
Send reminders to staff for newsletter submissions.
Proofread, format, and design the monthly newsletter.
Distribute digital and printed copies once approved by the Administrator.
Communications Support
Serve as an Administrator for the Leq'a:mel Facebook page and HAWK communications.
Coordinate, proofread, and prepare community information for approval and distribution.
Ensure posted information remains current.
General Office Duties
Operate standard office equipment (computers, printers, phones, scanners, fax machines, mail meters).
Order and maintain office supplies; keep storage areas stocked and organized.
Support door-to-door delivery of materials on and off reserve.
Maintain and coordinate vehicle usage calendars.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Education, Training & Experience
Minimum one (1) year of reception or administrative experience (experience with First Nations communities preferred).
Point-of-Sale system experience is an asset

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (required).
Valid and active BC Driver's License .
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions
Standard office environment, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM.
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. (e.g., stocking supplies
