ADMINISTRATIVE PROGRAM ASSISTANT (BAND LEVEL 4)

Bonne Bay Aquarium and Research Station Grenfell Campus, Memorial University (Contractual Position to October 20, 2023)
This competition may be used to fill identical positions in this unit within three (3) months of the closing date

DUTIES


Under the supervision of the Director, the incumbent will assist in the planning and delivery of interpretation and educational programs for school programs (K-12), post-secondary programs, pre-schools, community organizations, and the general public. Duties include assisting with planning, research, promotion, and delivery of interpretation and curriculum-based education programs for school groups, teacher workshops, science experiments and demonstrations, as well as preschool programs, Family Fun Days, special events, and general Bonne Bay Aquarium and Research Station visitor activities and tours; assisting with social medial promotion; using online registration, email, form software, and MS Office; writing summary reports; working at front desk, operating cash register, and greeting visitors, as needed; and performing other related duties as required. Some weekend and evening work will be required.


QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (1-3 years) interpreting nature, marine biology, and natural science topics to a broad audience including school age (K-12) students in an informal educational environment; graduation from high school supplemented by university level courses in natural science (biology, marine biology, zoology, ecology, geology, environmental science); or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Extensive supervisory experience is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience and social media literacy is required. Interest and knowledge of the Gros Morne Region, natural history, geology, educational principals, and the outdoors is preferred. Experience as an Aquarist would be an asset. Possession of a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license, as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and current Standard First Aid certification are assets. The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct.
SALARY
$38,866 - $54,505 per annum (CUPE Local 1615) CLOSING DATE April 13, 2023
