Position Overview

The Strategic and Corporate Services Department requires a temporary full-time Administrative Coordinator I for approximately two (2) years.


Responsibilities
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Strategic Initiatives and Services, you will provide administrative support to senior staff across the department. You will coordinate administrative activities which include tracking project budgets; creating and maintaining purchase orders; processing invoices; assembling and analyzing reports, project materials, records, and contracts; handling public inquiries; and coordinating meetings and special events.


Requirements
You will have considerable related work experience in an administration role, supplemented by business administration courses, with a preference for a Certificate in Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will also have knowledge of the departmental administrative functions, rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the work performed as well as the ability to make decisions in accordance with applicable departmental policies and procedures. Strong interpersonal and communications skills are required along with the ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public. You will also have a net keyboarding speed of 50 wpm and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.


Compensation

$30.94 to $36.39 per hour
(Pay Grade 19 \xe2\x80\x93 January 2021 rates)

Hours of Work
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.


Additional Information

For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
