What started as a plan to refresh the old community hall and add a playground for local children has grown into something on a much larger scale. Our dream of a new, modern community centre with a touch of the charm and heritage of our former hall has now been fully realized. We are excited seeing the impact this new space is having for the community and all the potential it brings. Positive changes have already been happening in the area in connection to the centre. The MacPhee Centre has partnered to offer free creative arts programs for youth. The Portapique Market has made its home here, offering local produce and handmade items each Saturday as well as helping with food security initiatives. Maggie's Place offers programs and support for young families. And of course, this beautiful space is available for community members to use for their own special occasions and events. It takes organization, coordination of schedules, and regular maintenance of our building and grounds to be able to facilitate the programs that we hope will meet many needs in our communities. This is a time for revitalization, not only in Portapique but all along our shore. We see the strength that small communities have in their members. We are on a journey to support each other as we heal and grow together.
