Under the direction of the Operations Manager of the Representation Section, the Administrative Assistant to the Operations Manager and Senior Grievance and Adjudication Officer provides administrative and operational support services to the Operations Manager and Senior Grievance and Adjudication Officer and the Representation Section's Management team by carrying out a wide variety of administrative responsibilities to ensure the Section's efficient operation, including providing support on finance and budgets, and confidential staffing, internal human resources and labour relations functions.

The position requires: Technical administrative knowledge and ability associated with successful completion of administrative training, or equivalent normally provided through several years of experience in providing administrative services relevant to the duties of the position.
Great breadth and depth of administrative skills in order to effectively plan, set priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong knowledge of the organizational structure, functions and policies, programs and services of the PSAC in order to manage the multiple stakeholders and membership needs associated with representation of grievances.
Advanced Computer skills to use and trouble shoot Windows applications such as: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, e- mail, internet and PSAC grievance system (Union ware).
Knowledge of PSAC financial accounting procedures in order to process member and staff expenses and pay arbitrator fees and related expenses.
Working Knowledge of labour regulations and legislation administrative processes in order to assure the referral of grievances are properly administered.
Abilities

Proficiency in the use of Windows' applications such as Word, Excel, Access and Power Point and email, Internet and financial systems.
Second language skills as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level indicated above.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both official languages are required
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Ability to deal with sensitive information in a diplomatic, discrete and tactful manner and to exercise good judgment in a fluid, dynamic, unpredictable and highly politically environment.
