With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking an Underground System Administrator, Local 2020-05 to join our Sudbury Operations. This is a permanent position.The successful candidate will be accountable for the front-line support of physical devices and systems underground, to support the iROC and other innovations. The incumbent will have a strong link with the Technology Department and will have contacts to ensure proper support and assistance for escalations and help.Accountabilities:

  • Schedule deployment and repairs with the appropriate maintenance team.
  • Basic troubleshooting of phones,
and other devices if not able to fix swap out the device. * Submit work notifications to the maintenance teams for wiring or electrical issues, as well as notifications to the Vale Service Centre for Technology support.
  • Provide priority response for repairs and work with the technical support provided from the Technology team on surface.
  • Maintain an inventory of phones,
and devices with accessories to support swap outs. * Provide functional support to the mining team for the devices and the applications.
  • Complete underground testing with the Technology Department for the phones,
and other devices to support existing and . Complete application beta and regression testing underground. * Work with planning to ensure network expansion (LTE/location awareness) is completed as appropriate and follow up to ensure all document is up to date.
  • Monitor LTE network and complete signal strength testing and connectivity testing.
  • Aid the Technology teams for access underground.
Qualifications and Specific Skills:Education/Certification: Diploma/Certificate in Electronics from a technical institute.Related Employment Experience: Minimum of 12 months of relevant Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications position.Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, PwP, Excel, MS Teams, etc. Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP is required. Knowledge of Android/iOS mobile device environments.Other Skills: Experience using test equipment including spectrum analysers, multi-meters, RF meters, VSWR/RL meters, fiber OTDR meters, specialized cable termination tools and IT device application tools. Analytical thinking and problem solving to collect and understand information. Knowledge of LTE communication systems, Field service support (surface, underground, remote etc.) for device, applications, telecom and other IT infrastructure and underground experience.What we offer you:
