Job Description

Adjudicators play a pivotal role in the claims process, often serving as the initial point of contact for workers and employers during sensitive circumstances. They are tasked with creating a positive first impression by acknowledging reported injuries and gathering pertinent information necessary to make timely and well-communicated decisions. Through telephone and written correspondence, Adjudicators determine eligibility for compensation benefits and services, ensuring decisions are consistent with established policies and legislation.

Utilizing a proactive claims management approach, Adjudicators make and communicate eligibility decisions promptly and consistently. They provide essential information to internal and external stakeholders regarding recovery and return-to-work processes, addressing the needs of workers and employers by actively listening, collecting and conveying relevant information, and clarifying rights, responsibilities, and obligations.


Job Duties:

Determine claim eligibility and authorize/deny entitlement to compensation based on established criteria.



Communicate decisions and rationale to injured workers, employers, and healthcare providers.



Gather and analyze medical, employment, and wage information to support claims processing.



Coordinate and facilitate claims management, ensuring timely resolution of Time Loss, Occupational Disease, Hearing Loss, and Fatality claims.



Implement return-to-work plans in collaboration with stakeholders.



Monitor physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment claims, ensuring compliance with protocols.



Manage noise-induced hearing loss claims for the full duration.



Identify and resolve claims with pre-existing conditions, applying cost relief policies as needed.

Deliver presentations and attend stakeholder meetings on behalf of WCB.



Ensure compliance with The Workers Compensation Act and other relevant legislation.


Qualifications:

Education - Completion of a two (2) year diploma in a related discipline.



Experience - Minimum three years of experience making entitlement decisions based on defined policies, procedures, and legislation.



Analytical Skills - Ability to assess and evaluate information to support claims decisions.



Knowledge - Familiarity with adjudication, disability management, case management, and medical terminology.



Communication Skills - Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.



Client Service - Ability to provide excellent client service, even in sensitive and high-pressure situations.



Technical Proficiency - Proficiency in Windows-based software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).



Organizational Skills - Ability to prioritize workload and meet tight deadlines.



Public Speaking - Ability to deliver presentations to external clients.



Teamwork & Independence - Ability to work collaboratively or independently as needed.



Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset but not required.

Annual Salary Range: $66,438 - $85,536



Tentative Start Date: August 25, 2025

Training Period: 10 weeks (Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).



A criminal record check and education verification will be required for the successful candidate.
