Your Opportunity:High Level (NWHC) Addiction and Mental Health Services has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic individual to work as a full time Addiction Counsellor III. If you are passionate about providing excellent addiction & mental health treatment services to a wide range and variety of clients including children and adults, then this is the ideal career opportunity for you. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide clinical services to clients, including group counselling and some individual counselling to clients with gambling, alcohol, and other drug problems. You will also conduct assessments, provide case management, aftercare planning, and deliver psycho-educational sessions to treatment clients, using best practice guidelines. This role also monitors and evaluates client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapts treatment plans as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will utilize your relationship building skills with clients, families, and colleagues. This position is also responsible for providing services to clients to access support through a weekly Walk-In clinic. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.Description:As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:Bachelor\'s degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor\'s degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to travel during inclement weather. Ability to work alone. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
