Your Opportunity:We are seeking a highly skilled, team oriented and dynamic Addiction Counsellor to join our Outpatient Addiction Services team in Peace River. Reporting to the Community Addictions Services Administrator, this is a professional Addictions Counsellor position. The incumbent is responsible for providing direct treatment and prevention services to Addiction Services clients, their families and to their referral agents. The incumbent will provide services to adults and youth involving screening, assessment, counselling, and treatment planning. The staff will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing support and guidance to the team regarding matters involving addictions/substance use, concurrent disorders, and harm reduction. They will work collaboratively with clients to facilitate referrals to treatment, detox, or other supportive services such as housing and income assistance. The incumbent is also responsible for providing offsite community addiction services including information, early intervention, treatment and prevention services to clients and their families and the delivery of programs related to the reduction and prevention of substances at the community level. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.Description:As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:Bachelor\'s degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor\'s degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. Additional Required Qualifications:As Required.
