We are an innovative private outpatient addiction treatment program that is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care. The Brick House specialize in evidence-based practices including detox, intensive outpatient programming and aftercare, offering a supportive environment for individuals on their journey to recovery.
Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated and empathetic Addiction Counsellors or Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at Brick House Recovery Centre. The ideal candidate will provide individualized and group counselling services to clients with substance use disorder and other mental health conditions. The counsellor will facilitate recovery programs and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of addiction, mental health and the recovery processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Assessment:
Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate clients' substance use history, mental health status, and social support systems to develop effective treatment plans.
Individual Counselling:
Provide one-on-one therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques to support clients through their recovery journey.
Group Therapy:
Facilitate group counselling sessions and support groups to promote peer support and shared experiences among clients.
Treatment Planning:
Develop, implement, and regularly update personalized treatment plans based on clients' needs, goals, and progress.
Education and Resources:
Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery processes, coping strategies, and available community resources.
Collaboration:
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to coordinate comprehensive care and ensure a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
Crisis Intervention:
Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, including risk assessment and appropriate referrals.
Continuing Education:
Stay updated on the latest research, trends, and best practices in addiction counselling and integrate new methodologies into practice.
Community Outreach:
Participate in community education and outreach programs to raise awareness about addiction and available treatment services.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field. A Master's degree is an asset.
Certification or licensure as an Addiction Counsellor, Psychologist or Therapist (e.g., CCAC, ICADC, RCC, RP, or CCC).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in addiction counselling or related field.
Strong understanding of substance abuse disorders and recovery processes.
Proficient in various counselling techniques (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and Relapse Prevention approaches.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple clients and tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing addiction treatment.
Proficiency in documentation and use of electronic health records systems.
Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
The successful candidate must understand and be able to step into various roles within the center as needed, including clinical, administrative, and operational tasks.
Experience in mental health therapies (i.e.) CBT, DBT is an asset
